Ultram Drug Interactions

Several medications can cause potentially dangerous Ultram drug interactions, including cyclobenzaprine, digoxin, and triptans. In addition, it is important to avoid alcohol while taking this drug. Problems could occur that may increase your risk of serious side effects, such as extreme drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Before taking Ultram, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking.

Ultram Interactions: An Overview

Ultram^® (tramadol hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Ultram include:

Alcohol
Carbamazepine (Carbatrol^®, Epitol^®, Equetro^®, Tegretol^®)
Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril^®, Amrix^®)
Dextromethorphan (a common active ingredient in cough medications)
Digoxin (Digitek^®, Lanoxin^®)
Linezolid (Zyvox^®)
Medications that cause drowsiness, including (but not limited to):

Antipsychotic medications
Anxiety medications
Most antidepressants
Narcotic pain relievers
Sleep medications
Some antihistamines

Promethazine (Phenadoz™, Phenergan^®, Promethagan™)
Quinidine
Sibutramine (Meridia^®)
St. John's wort
Triptans, including

Tryptophan
Warfarin (Coumadin^®, Jantoven^®).
