Soma® (carisoprodol) is a prescription drug licensed for the treatment of muscle spasms caused by injury, overuse, or similar problems. The muscle relaxant, which comes in tablet form, is available in two different strengths and is generally taken three times daily and at bedtime. Soma works mostly in the brain stem and spinal cord and not directly on the muscles. The medication should only be used temporarily, for up to two or three weeks.
