Roxicet Drug Interactions

Barbiturates
Combining a barbiturate with Roxicet can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Roxicet with a barbiturate.

Benzodiazepines
Taking Roxicet in combination with a benzodiazepine might increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Roxicet with any benzodiazepine.

Other Acetaminophen Products
When taking Roxicet, you should limit your total daily dose of acetaminophen (from all sources combined) to no more than 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. The acetaminophen content of Roxicet is 325 mg or 500 mg, depending on the strength. Taking too much acetaminophen could lead to serious liver damage or even death.

Watch for any other sources of acetaminophen, including other prescription pain relievers and many over-the-counter products, such as Tylenol. To be safe, all other acetaminophen products should be avoided while you are taking Roxicet, unless you are extremely careful to limit your total acetaminophen use (from all sources added together) to 4 grams per day.

Other Narcotics or Opiates
Use extreme caution when combining Roxicet with other narcotics or opiates, as serious side effects could occur. You should only use these medications together with your healthcare provider's approval and supervision.

Phenothiazines
Taking Roxicet in combination with a phenothiazine might increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. This combination of medications may also increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension). Even though phenothiazines are routinely combined with Roxicet (to help prevent or treat nausea and vomiting due to Roxicet), be sure to check with your healthcare provider before taking Roxicet with any phenothiazine.
