Hydrocodone is a narcotic commonly found in prescription pain and cough medications. It is a controlled substance and has a significant potential for both psychological and physical dependence and abuse.
There are many different types of hydrocodone pain medicine available, most of which contain a combination of hydrocodone and
acetaminophen (the narcotic is not available by itself; it is always combined with at least one other active ingredient). Dosing instructions vary depending on the particular product, but hydrocodone is typically taken every four hours as needed for pain.
