Flexeril 5 mg Tablets

If you have muscle spasms caused by certain conditions, a healthcare provider may prescribe Flexeril® (cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride). Your dosage will be based on several factors, such as your age, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).

In general, the recommended starting dose for treating muscle spasms is 5 mg of Flexeril, three times daily. However, your healthcare provider may increase your dose up to Flexeril 10 mg three times daily, if necessary. For people with liver problems or elderly people, a less frequent Flexeril dose may be recommended, as these people may be more sensitive to the effects (and side effects) of Flexeril.

Flexeril can cause significant drowsiness. Your healthcare provider may recommend that you take Flexeril only at night, especially if you need to be alert during the day. Flexeril should only be used for two or three weeks at a time, which should be plenty of time for most muscle injuries to heal.
