Ultram Drug Information

Ultram® (tramadol hydrochloride) is a painkiller that is available by prescription only. This medication is approved to treat pain that is moderate to moderately severe in nature. Because Ultram is not classified as a controlled substance in most states, many healthcare providers use it for their patients when they want to avoid the inconveniences of prescribing a controlled substance (such as many other pain medications) or if they are not authorized to prescribe controlled substances.

Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using Ultram, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, let your healthcare provider know if you have problems such as liver disease, epilepsy, or any allergies.
