Amrix® (cyclobenzaprine ER) is a long-acting muscle relaxant used to relieve muscle spasms. It is approved to be used temporarily to treat muscle spasms caused by overuse, injury, or similar problems; it does not help with muscle spasms caused by problems in the brain or spinal cord. Amrix is available by prescription only and comes in an extended-release capsule that is generally taken once a day. Potential side effects include dry mouth, dizziness, and fatigue.
